Solution : The cell membrane is a very thin layer of protein and fat. It allows only selective substances to pas through it, hence,it is called a selectively permeable membrane.

Hope it helps

{\green{\dashrightarrow}} The plasma membrane is called as selectively permeable membrane because it regulates the movement of substances in and out of the cell. It means that the plasma membrane aIlows some material to pαss through it while at the same time it bIocks other material from entering through it.
