Why is platypus a mammal

platypus belongs to the order of Monotremata of Mammalia which posses mammalian features. They are only egg laying mammals.

As, platypus belongs to Monotremata Group of Mammals, They have the abilities of Mammals such as they have lungs etc.
. Their only non mammal feature is that they lay eggs.
