Why is pollution having no solution? How can we stop pollution??
Answers
Step-by-step explanation:
Ministers should engage in finding real solutions, not gimmicks, to the UK’s pollution crisis.
That’s the view of environmental lawyers, ClientEarth, who are taking the UK government back to court over its failure to deal with toxic and widespread air quality issues.
Officials at Defra commissioned a study into whether paint could help to reduce nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions from diesel vehicles.
ClientEarth lawyer Alan Andrews said: “Of course we welcome any technological innovation that helps protect people from air pollution, but we should be focusing on the root cause of the problem: our addiction to dirty diesel.
“Research should be focused on cutting air pollution at source, not on gimmicks which seek to treat the symptoms but not the causes of Britain’s air pollution crisis. The government is desperately trying to avoid tackling dirty diesel vehicles, which is why we’re taking them back to court over their failure to clean up our air.”
The study, reported in the Guardian, suggested that there was little evidence to suggest that a certain type of paint could help reduce nitrogen dioxide and might instead cause unwanted side effects.
ClientEarth is taking the government back to court over its failure to properly deal with air pollution – which causes 40,000 premature deaths in the UK each year. The move follows a victory against Defra at the Supreme Court a year ago.
ClientEarth has also launched an appeal for donations to help fund the legal case.
