In order to be called as chain isomers, the said compounds must have same molecular formula, same position of functional group but different carbon chain lengths, whereas, for the compounds to be position isomers, they must have same molecular formula, same carbon chain length but different position of functional group.
Hence, a set of compounds cannot be chain as well as position isomers at the same time
