Why is potato tuber considered as a stem though it is an underground part? Give two reasons in support of your answer?

Answer:

Potato is a stem although Its a part of plant that lies under the ground. The reasons are:

1. The potato tuber doesn't consists of fibrous root hairs. So, they cannot be considered as root.

2. The potato tuber is formed by the accumulation of starch in the stem area, this results it to become swollen.
