Why is pottery the most common find on any excavation site?

Pottery is the most common find on any excavation site because pottery was widely used in olden times as utensils, water carriers, etc.There were a lot of pots and other pottery items in use in those days which we find commonly because of their being more in number.

Pottery is in effect a different form of glass. It does not rot, wear down, or fade. It is extremely durable and so as soon as it is buried it is vary well dreserved
