Power sharing is desirable as it promotes the following values:-
*equality among minority and majority.
*maintain peace in country.
*reduce political instability.
*promote democracy's main features (power doesn't reside in one hand)

Three forms of power sharing mechanism in modern democracy are :-
*horizontal distribution of power among various organ of government such as legislature, executive and judiciary.

*vertical distribution of power among various levels of government such as center government, state government, regional government such as panchayat in villages of India.

*power sharing among different social groups such as religious and linguistic group. like 'community government ' in Belgium.
