The rainfall in our country is a basically land and sea breeze on a large basis.how_-. during summers the air above the land area covering entire area becomes hot and rises up as a result a low pressure area is created thus the moist and cool air from Arabian Sea rushes to take its place. The amount of rainfall varies at different areas like the Western coast receives a heavy rainfall as they are the first one to face South West monsoon winds but for a short dura on the other hand the eastern coast gets a winter rainfall . It is in less amount but for longer months . The variation is also between east to west northern stretch of the country and for this a great reason are the Himalayas as they obstruct the south west monsoon and make it to give rainfall to the entire sub continent. While talking about difference between east to west the Rajasthan area is a desert whereas Eastern states receive excessive rainfall.the reason being that Rajasthan is on the leeward side of the arrawalis which blocks the rain there.and Eastern states also have the benefit of their height and a good section of North East monsoon winds from bay of Bengal.
