Why is prejudice said to be irrational

Prejudice is said to
be irrational because it is an adaptive attribute. For example, if you see a
snake, it is human nature to immediately come to the conclusion that it is poisonous
even if it is not. You are prejudiced against snakes because you adapt yourself
to this belief of yours. You refuse to pay heed to anyone who tries to convince
you with the truth.

Prejudice is said to be irritational as it is a baised opinion. It is a harsh judgement of character without knowing the personality of the individual. It makes us feel that we are unjust and unfair.
