This is due to some parents takes the decision of abortions easily if the child is girl since they think that the infant will become burden to them. This cases become more in recent days which made the government to make this act.

Pre-natal sex determination or gender discrimination is ethically wrong because in countries like India, the parents do not wish to have a girl child as they believe that she is a burden to them due to many reasons like dowry, future education and job etc. So in most of the cases if the parents get to know that they are going to have a girl child or even a boy in some cases then they abort it. This disturbs the female-male sex ratio of a country and it results to be negative.
