Why is pressure higher in arteries than veins?

Arteries carry the blood from the heart. The heart pushes the blood into the arteries so there is more pressure

But in veins, the blood isn't forcefully pushed into it so it has less pressure.

Hope This Helps You!

Arteries carry blood away from the heart.

Pressure in arteries is high because blood is actively forced into arteries by the pumping of heart. So, pressure in arteries is higher...

Veins carry blood towards the heart.

On the other hand in veins blood is not pushed forcefully by the pumping of heart.... so pressure in veins is low...
