In case of resonance of sound waves/ transverse pulses, there is formation of 2 types of regions: region of max displacement called antinodes, and the region of zero displacement called node.
Now, antinodes experience max displacement equal to 2A ( twice the amplitude of the transverse wave in the string). Hence there is pressure and density variation in the surroundings of that region of the wave .
