Hi there!
Psychology is a science because Research in it follows the scientific method or atleast it should.
Unfortunately, lots of the University India including Delhi University, Amity University, JAMIA Millia Islamia, and more , do not teach , follow or change into Psychology as a Science.
As a matter of fact, India is the source of so much Science that astounds me and billions worldwide. There exists Buddhist practices , Yogic Sciences, Ayurveda, Siddha etc which are precisely scientific in nature. Buddhist practices have been hugely scientifically validated and popularized in the WEST. It is the educated Indians who don't VALUE what is useful in what We have Created and unquestioningly follows the West.
From English language, to our education system, clothes, goggles, values, housing patterns, city patterns, health practices to Eating habits , are all WESTic.
There is no evidence of they useful to us(That's a different subject altogether).
Scientific Method
1. Inductive & Deductive Reasoning
2. Falsification
3. Research Design
4. The logic of Null Hypothesis and the need to disprove one's own Hypothesis.
5. Measurement, collection, interpretation and conclusion from Data gathered.
The scientific method is actually a set of principles, values and practices.
It is the Research Design which follows a series of Steps. They are:
a. Observation: Finding a Research question
b. Creating the Research Design:
i. PICKING up the Sample Space from the Study Population
ii. Finding, creating Measurement tools
iii. Generating Research Hypothesis and Null Hypothesis
iv. Marking groups into Treatment Group, No treatment group, Placebo Group(for experimental Research)
v. Collecting Data
vi. Interpretation of Data
vii. Drawing Conclusions
c. Peer Review
d. Publishing
My answer isn't perfect, but little usable.
Hope it make sense!

Reasons to Use the Steps of the Scientific Method
The goals of psychological studies are to describe, explain, predict and perhaps influence mental processes or behaviors. In order to do this, psychologists utilize the scientific method to conduct psychological research.
