Why is pulmonary artery called an artery if it does not carry oxygen rich blood?

An arterty is a blood vessel which carries blood away from heart. And as pulmonary artery carries blood from heart to lungs it is called as an artery.

it is called artory because it only carry oxegenated blood and one carry deoxginated blood . it carry blood from heart to other parts of body. if it doesn't carry blood than the body don't work it is like live death hands legs body don't movement
