Pulses production in India still lagging behind:
- India has particularly low facilities of irrigation which makes it suffer in the production of pulses.
- This isn’t just limited to pulses but is also extended to crops like oilseeds.
- Moreover India has seen its share of low amount of inputs and low quality of the fertilisers used to produce them.
- The land areas available are also meagre and also due to the climatic condition.
- Another reason is that the crops of cereal in India promise high returns which is the reason behind more attention being put to them then on the pulses.
