RAINBOW IS FORMED DUE TO DISPERSION OF VISIBLE LIGHT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE BY THE DROPLETS OF WATER WHICH ACTS AS A PRISM FOR LIGHT.............

It's formed coz when the rain drops fall,at that time if there is the Sun then the sunlight will pass through some or the other drops and at
that time the sunlight passing through the drops will bent as it does in refraction.Do we see a rainbow when the same happens with many drops nearby and get spread . It's also called the spectrum of light and have seven colours that are VIOLET,INDIHO,BLUE,GREEN,YELLOW,ORANGE AND RED. You can remember this by VIBGYOR....
