The Thar desert receives scanty rainfall dur to the following factors-----
1. The presence of Aravalli hills which act as a barrier to the monsoon winds.
2. Due to scorching heat as most of the moisture of the winds is evaporated.
3. Less number of trees is also a main cause for scanty rainfall as trees contribute a lot in the water cycle (through transpiration).
