Rayon is thinner and delicate compared to cotton. It is lightweight and hence suitable for surgical dressings. Unlike cotton, one can avoid bulky surgical dressings by using rayon.
Though Rayon is not 100% natural like cotton, it is still made from natural products and is a man-made fibre. It is generally made from regenerated cellulose fibre from wood pulp.
Surgical dressings made of cotton is more effective when it comes to moisture absorbency.
