Reaction between methane and chlorine in presence of sunlight considered as substitution because chlorine removes the hydrogen one by one and itself is added to form CCl4 at last.

Hey folk...
•The reaction is called substitution reaction.
•The product by the reaction is also depends on amount of chlorine , if chlorine is excess than the product is CCl4 and if chlorine is limiting product is CH3Cl.
• The reaction is called substitution reaction bcoz Cl is substituting in place of Hydrogen.
• Sunlight is only used for breaking chlorine gas (Cl2) in radicals (Cl• and Cl•).
