Repulsion is considered to be the best method to find a magnet.

Explanation:

We know that same poles repel each othwr while opposite poles attract each other.

But a magnet can attract an iron object from both sides but it can not attract another magnet from both side. If one side of magnet is North then other side of the other magnet must be south so that they can attract each other.

So, when we place a magnet in front of two object - One is magnet and other is iron object then we can see attraction and cant figure which one is magnet in two of them.

But when we change the direction of our magnet we can see that now one of the two object is repelling and thus that one must be another magnet.

Therefore, repulsion is considered the surest test of magnetism.
