Why is reservation still being given to ST/SC/OBC students? Why are seats not given on merit basis?

ST/SC and OBC are considered as minority in India They are given seats on merit basis but with a cut off marks lower than standard cut off marks

yash0711: You know how much lower their cutoff is?

yash0711: They can pass the JEE Mains exams by obtaining less than 50 marks while OBC students require near 75 marks and General require a little over 100 marks.

yash0711: The difference is too much.

yash0711: Government should try to encourage them in any other ways because this is not fair.

yash0711: And many students who take it's advantage are not ST/SC students or don't require it.

yash0711: A General student with 85% marks have to struggle to get a job where as, an ST/SC student gets a job or a seat in a university or college with just 50% marks.
