hyy mate ✌️

Glucose combines with oxygen in the cells and provides energy. The special name of this combustion reaction is respiration. Since energy is released in the whole process, it is an exothermic process.

  • The food taken by the living beings is ultimately broken down to glucose by the digestive system.

  • The glucose so formed is a slowly oxidized to carbon dioxide and water the release of heat energy.

  • Thus respiration is an exothermic reaction.

  • Glucose + water ---> Carbon dioxide + water + energy.

\green{Additional \: information :}

  • The reactions which are accompanied by the evolution of heat are called exothermic reactions OR the reactions in which the heat is released along with the formation of products are called exothermic reactions.

  • Example -

1》Burning of natural gas.

Methane + Oxygen ---> Carbon dioxide + water + heat.

2》Burning of magnesium ribbon.

Magnesium + Oxygen ---> Magnesium oxide + heat.
