Answer: Respiration is the most important biochemical reaction which releases energy in the cell. when we breathe in air, oxygen enters our lungs. It binds itself to haemoglobin present in red blood cells and is carried to millions of cells present on the body. Respiration occurs in these cells and is accompanied by the combustion of glucose producing carbon dioxide and water.

Reaction:-

C6H12O6 (s) + 6O2 (g) -----------> 6CO2 (g) + 6H2O (l) + 2820 kJ.
