why is respiration considered as an exothermic reaction and photosynthesis as an endothermic reaction

bcz in respiration energy is released in form of ATP
whereas in photosynthesis energy is absorbed from sunlight to make starch

because in respiration energy is released in the form of ATP by assimilation of the absorbed food I. e glucose in the mitochondria but in photosynthesis energy is consumed in the form of ATP to form glucose
