Respiration is necessary for the survival of every life on earth. Plants being biotic substances need to perform respiration for survival.
Plants respire both aerobically and anaerobically. In case of anaerobic respiration in plants carbon dioxide and ethanol are produced. Production of carbon dioxide causes foaming. And it produces heat as well.
Difference-
In case of plants external ventilation movement is absent. While in animals upward and downward movement of ribs and diaphragm is present.
