Why is salvia sepals also described as petaloid ?

The sepal which is the part of the calyx ofSalvia flower are described as petaloids because they have coloured sepals which resembles petals, which are a modified leaves often bright in colour to attract pollinators.

Sepals of flowers are generally green in colour. But in the case of salvia, the calyx gets coloured and appears like a petal to attract the insects. Since sepals appear like petal they are termed as petaloid.
