Sandy soil is less fertile because:
1. The proportion of humus is low due to high temperature
2. The water holding capacity is very low
3. It do not have appropriate nutrients required for a growth of a crop ( phosphorus , nitrogen etc)

Clay soil:
1. It high water holding capacity
2. It has humus contents
3. There are required nutrients
