Potential resources are those whose entire quantity may not be known are these are not being used at present. Moreover, we do not have advanced technology to use these resources.

Sea water is a potential resource because it is a storehouse of minerals but we are not aware of the quantity of minerals present in the sea. Further, it also contains salty water and is unfit for human consumption. At present, humans do not have a technology to convert sea water into fresh water.
