Why is shimla colder than jalandhar although the lie in the same latitude

shimla is colder than jalandhar bcoz still a is at a higher altitude than jalandhar. due to the normal lapse rate temperature falls by 1 degree celsius for every 165 m of ascent. therefore it makes shimla colder
