Why is small intestine best suited for digestion as well as absorption
Answers
Because of the presence of villi which increases the area of absorption.
Succus entericus is the intestinal juice which helps in digestion
Hiii!!
The partially digested food (chyme) from the pyloric stomach is pushed into duodenum (small intestine) by relaxation of pyloric sphincter. The bile juice from gall bladder and pancreatic juice from pancreas are mixed with chyme.
#Bile neutralise acidity of chyme in duodenum .
#It makes medium alkaline for the action of enzymes of pancreatic and intestinal juice .
#Bile emulsified fats and prepares them for the action of enzymes.
Small intestine is the site of complete digestion of carbohydrates , proteins
And fats.
The burners gland and the crypts of lieberkuhn secrete intestinal juice, called succus entericus.
ABSORPTION OF FOOD
The end product of carbohydrates, fats into fatty acids protein into amino acids. They absorbed by intestinal wall.
#it extremely long and present a large absorbing surface to the food.
#its absorbing surface is further increased by the presence of numerous minute finger -like projections called VILLI.
#Each villus has a dense network of blood capillaries.
#it has a lateal or lymph vessel in each villus for absorption of fat.
Thank you
I hope it may help you!!
