Herbivores need to digest the tough substance CELLULOSE because of which they need longer small intestine so as to be able to digest it better.

[Whereas]

Carnivores eat meat which is easier to digest hence they don't need longer small intestine.

The herbivores are having larger small intestine for the digestion of cellulose.Celluloae is not easy to digest fast but in case of carnivores , meat is easy to digest. That is the reason by which herbivores are having larger small intestine than carnivores.
