why is SO2 + O2 = SO3
but not SO2 + O2 = SO4

beacause in SO2 there are 2 Oxygen atoms
and I O2 also there are 2 Oxygen

Answer:

SO2 +O2 --->SO3 is not the correct balanced equation.

And the balanced equation is..

2SO2+O2----->2SO3
