Sodium acetate is a salt composed of CH3COO- (acetate ion) and Na+ (sodium ion). It is written as CH3COONa to emphasize that the positive sodium ion is attached to the negative end (the oxygen end) of the acetate ion.

Your question is innovative and there is answer
The Na group actually here connected to the CH3Coo group with single bond wich is highly stable when you try it to put it at prefix then it connects to CH3 it is unstable.
Na might be positive but here it doesn't matter.
