Sodium & Pottasium kept in kerosene oil because when these elements come contact with air it will burn.
Kerosene prevent Oxygen to enter it, that's why both elements kept under kerosene.

Sodium and potassium arehighly reactive . So they are kept immersed in kerosene oil to prevent their reaction with oxygen , moisture and carbon dioxide of air to prevent accidental fires .
