we know that
A compound is a substance formed when two or more chemical elements(May be ions) are chemically bonded together.
sodium chloride is classified as compound because
it consists of two or more (in this case two) elements that are bonded together (in this case ionically). Na+ and Cl- are the ions, and together NaCl is the compound.
Sodium chloride is a compound it consist of two elements sodium and chlorine the red one is sodium atom and the green one is chlorine in above image.
