why is sodium chloride not conduct electricity in solid state while in molten state it conduct

as far as I know the roots of chemistry I think it is because the ions are not furnished by the sodium chloride because install solid state it is not able to do it while in molten iron liquid state it is able to do because it can furnish free ions when it is liquid
