Phosphorus. is stored in water because it is a very reactive non-metal.
It catches fire if it exposed in air. So to prevent
the contact of phosphorus with atmospheric oxygen,it is stored in water .
whereas, sodium is very reactive. it reacts vigorously with oxygen and water and a lot of heat is generated in the reaction.therefore,it is stored in kerosene. ......
. It is kept in kerosene to prevent it from coming in contact with oxygen and moisture.
If this happens, it will react with the moisture present in air and form sodium hydroxide.
