Why is soft water need not be demineralised water but demineralised water is always soft water?

Demineralised water that has not been remineralised is considered an extreme case of low-mineral or soft water because it contains only small amounts of dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium that are the major contributors to hardness. Little or no intake of calcium and magnesium from low-mineral water.
