Answer: Soil provides us with food, shelter, clothing, minerals and water
Explanation: Soil is a very important natural resource as it provides us with necessary things such as food, shelter, clothing, minerals and water.
Food, Shelter and Clothing: By supporting growth of plants, soil provides us fruits and vegetables for eating purposes. While, it gives us trees, on which we depend for wood for our shelter or house. Whereas, plants like cotton and jute are given to us by the soil to make fabrics and some fabrics like wool and silk come to us from animals who get their energy and food from plants in the soil.
Minerals: Industries use minerals like iron, gold, silver etc, who in turn are provided prom the deepest layer of the soil. Petroleum and coal are natural gases also obtained from soil and clay is also a form of soil which helps in making bricks and tiles, etc.
Water: Water seeps into the soil and stays there as underground water. We can use it for drinking and other purposes.
