Explanation:

Soil erosion relatively less in dense forests as compared to barren and open fields because trees have roots which hold soil. So, when rainfall occurs they hold the soil to prevent soil erosion. But when trees are cut there are no roots to hold the soil. So, when rainfall occurs, the fertile top soil is eroded and causes soil erosion. For this reason we are advised to plant trees to prevent soil erosion.
