Answer:

Solid Carbon dioxide is called dry ice because it resembles ice, but carbon dioxide does not exist in liquid form, it sublimes straight from a solid to a gas. Hence "Dry Ice". It sublimes at –78°C becoming an extremely cold gas. It is often used in theatres or nightclubs to produce clouds, it looks a bit like smoke. Because it is denser than the air, it stays low.

Explanation:

1) This is due to the process known as sublimation.

2) In this process solids directly changes into gases or vice versa, without passing through liquid.

3) Since co2 is a gas, it does not have any liquid state.

4) That is why the ice formed from it has no liquid molecules in it.
