Solid carbon dioxide is known as dry ice. Because it looks like ice and because when it “melts” it goes from solid straight to gas, no liquid, hence dry ice.

because its look like like a ice and is cold like ice .But when it melt it does not becomes as a wet liquid . But when ice melt it forms liquid . this is the reason that solid CO2 known as dry ice
