Hello mate,
SONAR is stands for Sound Navigation and Ranging..
So it transmits Ultrasonic sound waves, which travels through the water and if there is any object in the base of the sea or the ocean, the waves get bounce back after crashing to the sunken ship
by this the receiver which is fitting in the base of the ship which is moving on the water, receives the wave, and There is a device fitted in the ship which tells about at what depth the object is..
So by this way, SONAR is used to discover sunken ship or object in the deep sea,..
Thanks for questioning..
