Why is Stainless Steel preferred to make utensils?

Iron is mixed with carbon to produce steel. This is the main component of stainless steel. Chromium is added to make it resistant to rust.
Stainless steel is preferred for making kitchen utensils because it does not influence the flavour of the food and is easy to clean.
