standard meridian = 82.5°E
in order to maintain a common time through out india the central meridian 82.5 is selected as the standard meridian.the reason for the need of a common time n india is for the integrated running of railways,flights,many telecasts and for all these thing different places cant have different timings.

The standard meridian is 82.5°E .
The ST is important for our country for the common time in all parts of country .It is because for ,flights,many telecasts , railways we can't have diff time for diff places so it is chosen. The standard meridian or central meridian 82.5°E is basically is chosen for a common time in all over country.
