Stomata are small pores present on the surface of leaves which acts in exchange of gases. They open during the day in presence of sunlight. If the numbers of stomata are present at the upper surface of the dicotyledonous leaves, it will lead to more water loss during daytime and high temperature. This may lead to degradation of leaves. Hence, to prevent excessive water loss in terrestrial plants, the large number of stomata are present at the lower surface of leaves.

Answer:

stomata is needed to breathe. stomata plays an important role in photosynthesis to absorb CO 2 (Carbon dioxide) from the environment. Suprisingly, it is found under the leaves. Why? To reduce exposure to sunlight. They are found on the lower part so that the excessive heat does not evaporate the water and wither the plant.
