Sustainable development encourages us to conserve and enhance our resource base, by gradually changing the ways in which we develop and use technologies. Countries must be allowed to meet their basic needs of employment, food, energy, water and sanitation.

If this is to be done in a sustainable manner, then there is a definite need for a sustainable level of population. Economic growth should be supported and developing nations should be allowed a growth of equal quality to the developed nations.

More importantly, sustainable development helps us to conserve our finite resources for our future generations.

Sustainable development is the type of development in which the usage of the resources of the present will not compromise with that of the needs of the future.

Now I:- Xosmsos shall elaborate this:

This means that the resources used for development now shall not cause any damage or leave any lack of resources for our future generations to live in.

This is really important because if every country lives for itself and aims in only trying to develop without the idea of conserving resources then at the present humans might become close to the largest economic center of the galaxy but nature will wipe us out due to us ending up with no resources.

Classic examples of these in the present world that were caused by our forefathers were air pollution due to mass production water and soil pollution due to careless errors.

If we continue on their path then we might cause our species to end.

Hence the importance of sustainable development.

Hope it helps.
