tamarind is used for cleaning tarnished copper utensils bcz the layer formed due to corrosion on the metal is basic in nature n gets dissolved in the lemon or tamarind juice which is acidic in nature . then the utensils get cleaned

as tamarind consist of tartaric acid and copper and brass react with atmospheric gases and forms oxides or a corbonates of copper and brass and they had become less lustrous and also they are basic in nature so to make the lustrous and neutralize the acidic tamarind is used to wash it hence I will be neutralize and also became lustrous than before
