Why is tess's mother overjoyed?

The literature “Tess of the D’Urbervilles” was written by Thomas Hardy. The main character in this novel is “Tess”; she is a grown woman who was in an age to get married.
Her mother “Mrs Joan Durbeyfield” was a petite woman and wanted to give her daughter a good family life. But due to the scenarios happening to Tess, her mother gets saddened. Since, Tess’s mother is more interested in superficial things and she has a copy of “The complete fortune-teller” book.
She reads the book and finds that Tess is going to marry a gentleman.
She cannot intercept the condition of her daughter’s marriage.
Though Tess’s mother cannot read the book clearly, on seeing this happy news, she gets overjoyed and her hopes increases.
This novel broadly talks about the sexual and religious impact on the lower class women during the late Victorian age.
