GSTIN is a 15 digit alphanumeric number.

The first 2 digits gives an indication of state in which the registered dealer is having principal place of business.

Next 10 digits are PAN number of the owner/s of the dealer.

13th digit shows the number of activity vertical/s for which dealer is registered.

14th digit is a standby surplus for use at any future date with 36 options in hand. 26 options from A to Z and 10 options from 0 to 9

15th and Last Digit is a check digit stating whether all the details given in the GST number is correct or not
